Compulsive shoppingThe ratio between men and women who shop compulsively lies at 40 to 60. In the last years there has been an increase in addictive behaviour. Shopping addicts come from different social classes, but most have a higher education. Many of those affected do not have a large income complicating the situation. Debt is an important consequence of compulsive shopping.
Usually, addicts buy the same things: Women choose clothes, shoes, jewelry, household appliances, food and books. Men tend to buy car supplies, technical appparatus, sports equipment and antiques. Once the products are purchased, shopping addicts lose interest in them. |
