Heroin

Heroin is the most common opiate and it is very addictive. According to US data 2,4 % of male and 1,5 % of female teenagers have tried heroin at least once. Men are more prone to addiction than women. If heroin is used regularly over a period of time a tolerance to the drug builds up.
Coming off the drug can be very difficult because withdrawal symptoms - although lasting for only a few days - are fairly severe.
